Mosaic Workshops
At Jabezz we teach the art of mosaics - from beginners to advanced classes. Our workshops offer students the opportunity to learn the skills of this ancient art form in a relaxed, sociable and fun atmosphere.

The art of doing mosaic is really quite easy and requires only a small measure of inherent artistic talent. So long as you can hold a pencil in your hand you should be fine. Inspiration for the design of your artwork is easily found in the world around you, from photographs, pictures or patterns. A wide range of Mosaic books are available to assist in design selection. Your imagination really is the only limit.

The basic Mosaic Class teaches you all you need to know about the basic mosaic skills, from design and color, to cutting and grouting. Use is typically made of porcelain tiles although glass and ceramic tiles are also available. The basic mosaic techniques will be explained, including the direct & indirect methods of application. Each stage of the process is different so there’s little chance you will be bored. With each step we demonstrate, explain and advise, helping you to execute your own ideas.

You will receive a workbook containing basic notes on the art of Mosaic. The prime objective of our classes is for you to relax, have fun and let the creative juices flow.

The workshop affords you a relaxing day, come along with friends or family and create a work-of-art which can be taken home and enjoyed, or given as a present to someone special – nothing says you care like a gift made with your own hands.

Material Available
Our extensive mosaic tile range for craft mosaics (interior and exterior use) includes glass mosaics, unglazed and glazed ceramic mosaics, stainless steel mosaics, handmade mosaic tiles, stained glass, natural tiles and much more.
We also stock DIY kits and basic tools to start you off. Visit our studio for all your mosaic supplies.

Workshop Dates & Times
Our courses are filling up fast – check out all the new course dates (Mosaics). We have introduced a new mosaic course which will run monthly. This course teaches you how to create ceramic mosaics on a Jug/Vase or small Pot.

The classes take place on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 5 pm. Alternative times can be accommodated on special request.

Basic Mosaic Workshop - for Beginners	Duration: 4 - 8 hours. The price includes glue, grout, gloves and the use of all the tools in the studio. A basic project will be made from start to finish which can be taken home by the student. You can choose ONE of the following items for your basic class: 1. Mosaic Mirror 2. Wooden Cross 3. Stepping Stone 4. Butterfly 5. Gecko Workshop fee includes all basic materials needed for class as well as standard colour porcelain tiles. 		BEGINNERS: DIRECT METHOD: MOSAIC MIRROR WORKSHOP Create your own masterpiece as a gift for a loved one. You will be taught the direct method for this project Approx size of Mirror 400mmx400mm
		BEGINNERS: INDIRECT METHOD: (09h00-14:30) Workshop: Mosaic a Stepping Stone The Indirect Method will be used for this project.
			BEGINNERS : DIRECT METHOD (09h00-14:30) Workshop: Mosaic Butterfly/Gecko Using a butterfly or gecko template (wood) the direct method will be used to create your own masterpiece (Supawood base)

Advanced Mosaic Duration 8 - 10 hours. This class can be divided into sessions. Advanced Mosaic Workshop Mosaic one of the following: 1. Jug or Vase 2. Big Mirror 3. Big Heart-shaped Mirror Terms: R150/ Deposit Cost = R750.00 Workshop fee includes all basic materials needed for class as well as standard colour porcelain tiles. Costs for the Jug/Mirror/Vase are also included. The fee excludes inserts & special tiles (red/orange) – available at extra cost.
Please note: Red & Orange tiles, available at discounted price of R10.00 each, applicable to all adult classes. Discounted price only applies when you attend workshops.

KIDDIES MOSAIC CLASSES

The kiddie’s class duration is normally three hours. The children will have great fun creating an artwork unique to their world, using a large selection of bright, shiny and colourful glass, porcelain and/or ceramic tiles and mirrors.

Workshop Fee includes all materials - children use the Scrap Box.

Cost = R195.00

Depending on their age and ability, children will either be taught how to cut tiles themselves (older kids), or they will use the Scrap Box to find ready-made treasures for their art works.

Children have a choice of one of the following:

1. Small cross

2. Heart shape

3. Flower (1 big or 2 small)

4. Star

INSTALLATIONS:
Installations can be done according to client specification on any sound vertical or horizontal surface. After a site-visit, during which accurate measurements are taken, the panel will be produced on netting in our studio and then installed. Price depends on the material required (glass or ceramic), the size, the quality of the substrate as well as the intricacy of the design. Please feel free to contact us for a quotation.
